IRIX 6.5 Applications, May, 1999
README
The IRIX 6.5 Applications CD, May 1999 is a companion to IRIX 6.5.4 and
contains the IRIX Desktop and various desktop applications. This CD replaces
the IRIX 6.5 Applications CDs from June 1998, November 1998, and February 1999.
Many of the applications upgraded from the previous IRIX Applications CDs
are included as overlays on the IRIX 6.5.4 Overlays, May 1999 CD. To install
the new versions of these applications you must install IRIX 6.5.4. The images
contained on the IRIX Applications CD are the previously released IRIX 6.5 versions.

Changes made to previous CDs include:
- Netscape, SGIMeeting, and CosmoPlayer have new editions on this Applications CD.
- WebFORCE MediaBase clients are no longer available on this CD.

- Insignia's SoftWindows95 version 5.0 shipping on its own CD.
- We are no longer supporting the Xing Streamworks Player.
- We are no longer shipping MediaMail or MediaMail Pro.
- Indigo Magic Desktop Applications have been renamed IRIX Interactive Desktop Applications.

If you have insight_dev installed, you will need the November 1998 IRIX
Applications CD in order to upgrade insight_dev software during your 6.5.4
upgrade.

If you want to use CosmoPlayer 1.1 to view VRML worlds, do not use Netscape
4.5. Netscape 4.07 works with CosmoPlayer 1.1; both Netscape 4.07 and CosmoPlayer
1.1 are shipped on the IRIX Applications 6.5, February 1999 CD. Netscape 4.5 or
later requires CosmoPlayer 2.1, which is not yet released.

Netscape Communicator Client 4.51 is part of the default distribution
on this CD. Customers who only use the browser functionality (and
not the email, newsgroups, etc.) may prefer to install the Netscape
Navigator Client (netscape_lite) 4.51. From Software Manager, open
/CDROM/dist/extras to install this product.

Netscape's FastTrack Personal Server on this CD will upgrade and
replace the original OutBox Webserver or previous versions of Netscape
FastTrack server. Netscape Admin server is now included in the Netscape
FastTrack 3.02a product. You will not need to select the Netscape
Admin server for installation. Netscape FastTrack will work with OutBox,
and needs no special configuration.

Software Manager: when you click on the product, the product name will

- When you are finished browsing this README, click OK below
to run the startup script. If you need to refer back to this README,
press the Lookup button.
- Press the Customize Installation button in Software Manager and
check the products you want to install. (Read the "
Notes about the products," above).
- Press Start.
